This full-day conference, chaired by John Beggs QC, will draw on our police team’s experience to provide a detailed, practical and strategic look at how to avoid and defend claims arising from breaches of Article 2 – 5, covering key themes, practice and recent cases.
In the first event of its kind, the Secret Barrister, Chris Daw QC, and two of the Bar Council’s #IAmTheBar Social Mobility Advocates, Rachel Spearing and Natasha Shotunde, will come together for a live-streamed panel discussion on social mobility and access to the Bar.
A panel discussion chaired by His Honour Brian Barker CBE QC

These practically focused seminars will provide an update refresher on the recent law and its practical application and are primarily devised for solicitors who represent interested persons at inquests.

Every year Serjeants’ Inn joins forces with Oxford neurosurgeon Richard Stacey to organise this event for both claimant and defendant clinical negligence enthusiasts. We aim for an interesting mix of medical and legal talks and we will once again be offering a ‘speed dating’ session after lunch with a more informal opportunity to ask questions of our medical speakers.
This seminar will be given by Anthony Haycroft for MBL. This course is aimed at those who advise medical professionals who have been charged with a criminal offence relating to their work. It will consider the tactics to be adopted and explain the specific nuances involved in this area.
Our annual police law conference will focus on the growing impact of Article 8 in all areas of policing. This full day event will draw on our police team’s experience to provide a detailed, practical and strategic look at claims arising from breaches of Article 8.
This year, speakers will be John Beggs QC, Angus Moon QC, George Thomas, Elliot Gold, James Berry, Frances McClenaghan, Aaron Rathmell, Cecily White and Anthony Searle.
