Seminars at Serjeants’ Inn

We are frequently called upon as commentators in our fields: in the last 12 months our members have given papers at institutions including the Houses of Parliament, the Home Office, the College of Policing and St George’s, University of London. Our barristers have also been invited to speak at events such as the AvMA and Association of Police Lawyers annual conferences, as well as for numerous client firms.

We offer a rolling programme of seminars and case surgeries as well as providing regular briefing notes and other articles and updates for clients.

The fact that – in an innovative move – we have invested in a dedicated client care team means that we are particularly well placed to discuss and fulfil client requirements on training and numerous other matters. For full details please contact our client care team here.

Alternatively, if you wish to attend any of our in-house seminars as detailed here from time to time, please complete the registration form and we will be in touch shortly to confirm your place.

Lawyers in lockdown: managing the challenges

Join Dr Bridget Dolan QC and Rachel Spearing for a discussion about the challenges created by the pandemic. Despite Bridget’s PhD in psychology and her 13 years working with the NHS as a Psychologist before she came to the Bar and Rachel’s experience gained  as the co-founder and  first Chair of the Bar Wellbeing Initiative, they are clear that there are no simple solutions and that what works for one person may not be relevant to another.

What’s in a name? Privacy in the Court of Protection

In this evening seminar, which will be chaired by Michael Mylonas QC, our panel will consider the following questions:
What does the Court Order actually mean? And what happens when someone breaches an Order? And what happens in other jurisdictions, where the right to anonymity is less closely guarded? And most critically – have we got the balance right?
