Our Service

Chambers & Partners have identified us as one of the leading 20 sets at the Bar for client service, praising our “forward drive in terms of professionalism, modernity and commerciality.” We have been either shortlisted or highly acclaimed for six client service awards over the last two years.

We recognise that the hierarchical approach that the Bar traditionally took in its relationship with clients has to be a thing of the past. Our barristers pride themselves on their approachable, accessible approach and draw on modern systems and technologies to provide a cutting-edge service to clients: The Legal 500 notes that Serjeants’ Inn “adds value through personal warmth, and has a truly wonderful and deserved reputation, which stems from doing all the little things exceptionally well, as well as being able to handle all manner of larger tasks”.

Our set is led by our joint Heads of Chambers, Angus Moon KC and Michael Horne KC. They provide vision and direction: under their tenure the set has seen significant expansion and progression which has been acknowledged in a series of awards.

We have modernised Chambers’ structure through the appointment of a multi-disciplinary senior management team; this combines three leaders who have different specialisms while working closely together to give the set a more efficient and client-focused approach. We have retained a Senior Clerk, Lee Johnson, who manages our traditional clerking functions but, in Catherine Calder, we also have a Chief Executive. Catherine is an experienced solicitor who has worked in management roles at the Bar for over 20 years.

We have significantly strengthened the team, adding  new staff members, in new roles, and generally recruiting at a more senior level. In addition to 11 clerks, we have a dedicated client service team of four, the only such team at the Bar.

We have made this investment because we want to ensure that our service is always as strong as our legal expertise and to enable us to build a much closer, more strategic relationship with our clients.

WHAT this means for clients

This structure and approach equips us to assess and finesse the service we provide, while releasing our barristers to concentrate on their individual clients and cases.

The Legal 500 comments that “solicitors are confident that this set provides a plethora of knowledge, skill and experience, as well as reassurance that your matter will be dealt with professionally and with a service that is of the highest standard”.

We would always be delighted to discuss the best way of working for you. Please contact our Chief Executive, Catherine Calder, if this would assist.
