Laura has been shortlisted for Young Pro Bono Barrister of the Year 2026.
Prior to joining the Bar, Laura worked as a prison lawyer. She was commended by the Parole Board for her ‘very powerful’ and ‘extremely clear’ submissions.
Experience
Laura joined Chambers following successful completion of her pupillage in April 2026. During her pupillage, she was supervised by Elliot Gold KC, Sebastian Naughton, and David Lawson.
Public Law
Laura represents both claimants/appellants and public authorities in a range of public law matters. In particular, she has appeared in the First-Tier Tribunal on behalf of the parents of children with SEN.
During her pupillage, under the supervision of David Lawson, Laura worked on a range of public law matters, including judicial reviews, appeals to the upper tribunal, and claims involving the Human Rights Act. Laura also attended Angus Moon KC in the Supreme Court on a case concerning the doctrine of illegality.
Police Law
Laura regularly advises and represents both claimants and forces in a range of police matters, including actions against the police. She appears on behalf of a range of police forces making civil applications in the Magistrates’ and Crown Courts.
During her pupillage she was supervised by police law specialist Elliot Gold. She worked on pre-action letters and pleadings for judicial review, police pay, pensions and injury benefits, police misconduct matters, and police civil actions involving unlawful arrest, false imprisonment and personal injury.
Court of Protection
Laura is particularly interested in developing her Court of Protection practice. She has advised and represented local authorities in relation to s.21A and s.16 applications. This has included urgent advice on sections 4A and 6 of the Mental Capacity Act.
During her pupillage, Laura attended David Lawson in his varied Court of Protection practice. These included cases concerning force feeding and Fabricated and Induced Illness. She also attended Debra Powell KC in a case concerning the withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment and Bridget Dolan KC in an emergency application concerning P’s birth plan.
Inquests
Laura represents a range of Interested Persons at pre-inquests review hearings and inquests, including families in inquests concerning the death of babies.
During her pupillage she was supervised by Sebastian Naughton, who sits as an assistant coroner. Laura gained exposure to serious and high-profile inquests, including those involving complex medical matters.
Clinical Negligence
Laura is currently developing her clinical negligence practice, acting for both claimants and defendants. This has included advising on an infant settlement claim and drafting defences for NHS Trusts.
During her pupillage, Laura was supervised by clinical negligence specialist Sebastian Naughton, where she observed high-value clinical negligence cases, including fatal accident claims. She drafted pleadings, schedules, advices and applications. She also attended John de Bono KC in a clinical negligence trial concerning fundamental dishonesty.
Pro Bono work
Laura is committed to pro bono work. During pupillage she completed the pupil pro bono pledge. She has been shortlisted for Young Pro Bono Barrister of the Year 2026 as a result of her representation of two families in SEN appeals.

Previous Experience
Laura worked as a prison lawyer at a leading prison-law firm, dealing with some of the most dangerous offenders in the country, including those in closed supervision centres. She conducted oral hearings in front of the Parole Board and District Judges and wrote submissions to the High Court. She was commended for her ‘very powerful’ and ‘extremely clear’ submissions.
Laura was also an advocacy fellow of an international charity. She led a small team to produce and present a paper to Members of Parliament on the complexities under international law of the lack of a territorial clause in a Free Trade Agreement.
Laura was a member and a coach of the Oxford University debating team. Laura was also a guest lecturer at City University.
