As a barrister specialising in medical law, Neil has substantial experience in discipline work in the healthcare field and regularly appears at not only the MPTS and GDC, but also at the Health and Care Professions Council and the General Chiropractic Council.

Neil recently advised in relation to challenging the refusal to grant a Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration.

Experience & expertise

Neil deals with a broad spectrum of misconduct and performance issues and has been involved in many high profile MPTS cases. He also has particular expertise in advisory work relating to procedural matters such as delays in prosecution and prosecution of charges over five years old.

Neil has regularly advised in relation to reviewing the decisions of tribunals including decisions made by the Registrar of the MPTS and orders requiring a doctor to give evidence at a hearing.  Most recently he has advised on the ability of health professionals to challenge the decisions of the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman.

Neil regularly acts for doctors and dentists in relation to interim, review and final hearings.

He has particular expertise at dealing with factual complex cases or those requiring particular sensitivity.

Neil has also acted for numerous paramedics, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, art therapists and chiropodists at the Health and Care Professions Council.

In addition to attending hearings, Neil regularly advises in relation to procedural matters and recently advised in relation to challenging the refusal to grant a Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration.
