Liam is instructed by police forces on a range of civil matters. He was recently instructed on a three-day trial involving a significant bite injury following the deployment of a police dog. He has a particular interest in allegations of breach of confidence and breaches of the Data Protection Act and Article 8 rights by police forces.
Civil applications in Magistrates/Crown Court
Liam advises regularly on Proceeds of Crime Act matters including forfeiture and confiscations and has appeared for both police forces and the National Crime Agency. He is frequently instructed on a range of preventative orders available to the police including Domestic Violence Prevention Orders, Closure Orders and Football Banning Orders. He has significant experience with Sexual Harm Prevention Orders in complex cases dealing with predatory offenders or case complicated by mental health issues.
In pupillage Liam gained a wide variety of inquest experience including deaths in police custody, prison deaths and judicial reviews of coronial decisions.
