Michael Mylonas QC and Conrad Hallin appear in unusual and tragic case as to whether it is lawful not to detain and force feed anorexic patient

23rd September 2014

In the case of An NHS Trust v Ms X (by the Official Solicitor as her Litigation Friend) Cobb J ruled that that it would not be in the patient’s best interests for treatment (detention and force feeding) to be provided, notwithstanding that she would almost certainly die without it.

Michael Mylonas QC acted for the applicant psychiatric Trust and Conrad Hallin was instructed by the Official Solicitor.

The case has been widely reported. Please click here for an article in The Times and here to read a summary of the case.
