James Berry appears in misconduct case against senior police officer

James Berry appeared in a police misconduct hearing concerning a Detective Chief Inspector who was deputy head of the police force’s Professional Standards Department. The allegations concerned misuse of police travel entitlements. After a four day hearing which concluded on 1 June 2018, the officer was dismissed without notice for gross misconduct.
James presents and defends in complex misconduct cases and appeals across the country. He is often instructed to advise on discrete points of disciplinary law and specialises in judicial review challenges to decisions taken in disciplinary proceedings.
