Conrad Hallin appears for NHS Trust in best interests case

20th March 2016

Conrad Hallin acted for the NHS Trust in the case of Aintree Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust v Hampson, in which Mrs Justice Roberts ruled in favour of the Trust and made declarations that it was in the best interests of Mr Hampson, an 86 year old man with advanced dementia and in a terminal condition, not to be fed by naso-gastric tube or PEG as this was not likely be benefit him and would instead cause him harm and distress.  No reporting restriction order was made as Mr Hampson’s son had put the relevant information into the public domain prior to the commencement of proceedings.

The case was widely reported in the national press: for the BBC coverage please click here.
