Brook House Inquiry resumes – Sarah Simcock and Cecily White instructed

The Brook House Inquiry, chaired by Kate Eves, was set up to investigate the circumstances surrounding the mistreatment of individuals detained at Brook House Immigration Removal Centre between 1 April 2017 and 31 August 2017, as shown in the BBC Panorama programme “Under-Cover: Britain’s Immigration Secrets” aired on 4 September 2017.  The Inquiry’s first phase of hearings took place in November and December 2021.  The second phase of hearings commences on 21 February 2022 and is due to continue until early April.

Sarah Simcock is first junior counsel to the Inquiry, led by Brian Altman QC.  Cecily White represents the Practice Plus Group (PPG), instructed by James Lawford Davies of Hill Dickinson LLP, which, as of September 2021, is responsible for the delivery of primary care services at Brook House.
