Andrew Hockton obtains Court order terminating interim suspension order made by the GMC

2nd September 2013

Upon a statutory application made under section 41(A) of the Medical Act 1983 (as amended) HHJ Raynor QC sitting in the Administrative Court in Manchester on 8th August 2013 terminated a suspension order made by the Interim Orders Panel of the GMC against a doctor in training. In so doing, the Learned Judge affirmed the broad priniple that suspension based on the ground of the public interest will only be justified in relatively rare cases. As a result of the suspension the doctor had lost his place on a training scheme. Andrew Hockton was instructed on behalf of the doctor by Karen Rawsthorne of DAC Beachcroft.
